Patio & Paving Installation Across Surrey

Porcelain, Indian sandstone, block paving, cobble setts and slate, GK Landscapes handles everything from design to the final finish.

A Patio That Lasts, Built Properly From the Start

A new patio is only as good as what goes underneath it. Poor sub-base preparation is the number one reason patios sink, crack and shift within a few years. GK Landscapes handles all groundworks in-house: excavation, sub-base, drainage, laying, jointing and sealing. You get a finished job, not a laying-only service with someone else's groundworks to worry about.

Patrick Greenwood advises on the best material for your garden, your budget and how the space will be used. Porcelain is the most popular choice, low maintenance and long-lasting. Indian sandstone offers a natural look with character. Block paving and cobble setts suit traditional properties beautifully.

What a Proper Patio Installation Involves

Every GK Landscapes patio follows the same proven process, no shortcuts on groundworks, no dry-laying, no hollow spots.

1
Site visit & quote

Patrick visits, measures up, checks ground conditions and drainage falls. You get a written price before any commitment.

2
Excavation

We dig to the correct depth for your chosen material, typically 200–250mm for a patio on a full sub-base.

3
Sub-base

MOT Type 1 crushed stone, compacted in layers. This is what keeps the patio level for 20+ years.

4
Drainage falls

A minimum 1:80 fall away from the house is built in so rainwater runs clear.

5
Full mortar bed

Every slab is laid on a full bed, no spot-bedding. Hollow spots crack under furniture and foot traffic.

6
Jointing & sealing

Pointing is applied fully and sealed where appropriate. Edges are haunched for permanence.

Our Patio Services

Natural Stone & Sandstone

Indian sandstone has character that porcelain cannot replicate. Warm tones, natural variation, and a timeless look that suits period properties. Requires occasional sealing to maintain appearance.

Block paving works beautifully for patios as well as driveways, especially for traditional or period properties. Cobble setts are a premium finishing detail Patrick personally enjoys laying.

Patio Repair & Restoration

Sunken slabs, cracked pointing, stained surfaces, often a professional repair or clean-and-seal is all that's needed rather than a full replacement.

Groundworks & Drainage

Every patio GK Landscapes installs starts with proper groundworks — correct falls for drainage, compacted sub-base, and a solid foundation that prevents sinking and movement over time.
